Manuals

Manuals

We were asked to construct a model in1:20.
The model should be a construction of existing context (our apartment) and build as a fixed frame / extract window as a replaceable part.
In this model we had to explore the spatial changing conditions through the manipulation related to the window-component.
These manipulations should be documented in manuals, containing small probes, sketches and photos.

I have chosen probe 7, to develop further.

The name of my investigation will be temporarily space, defined by transparent textiles, which will be able to make new spaces, according to the atmosphere, human body and mood.

Program

Program

Related to my previous mapping and the keywords atmosphere and effects, I want to take my investigation to another level.
I have decided to put my focus on my entrance and the bed area.
I want to find a solution for the dark entrance, and hopefully find a way to manipulate my window, to give more light. Simultaneously with more light in the entrance, a mechanism should be developed to give shade to my bed area.
I also have to think of the impact for the rest of my apartment, if I manipulate with my window, and possible side effect.
My intension is to make colder and warmer areas, in places I often use.

(My program is under development and is expected to be re-defined)

1:50 digital section and small renderings

This is my latest developed section drawing. Here I have been working with the layers and thickness of the line weight, to a more balanced drawing.
Simultaneously with the drawing, I have also made some small renderings of the materials in the drawing.

Perceptual Apparatus / Window Expander

Perceptual Apparatus / Window Expander

Related to the explorations of phenomenological matters in the previous assignment, this new assignment was to re-develop the window as a perceptual apparatus. The spatial exploration had to take consideration in the existing spatial conditions, and act upon either reinforce or change the inherent environment.
First we had to draw a digital perspective section in 1:50 of the spatial relation between the window / space / context.

Following examples are not considered as finished drawings, but drawings to be further developed.
The digital section is being made in a 3D modelling programme, called Rhinoceros.
